Juan
Suárez,
a Cuban exile and United States citizen, is a writer,
journalist, and poet. Like many others, he is an indefatigable
fighter in the struggle for Cuban liberation. He is
the co-author, along with his wife, Dr. Blanca R.
García, of the series of psychoeducational
lectures entitled "A Call to Freedom." His
first book in Spanish, Contra el viento (Against the
Wind), published in 1991, was translated to Braille
and made into a Talking Book by the National Library
Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (a
division of the Library of Congress) and distributed
throughout the country. He is a regular columnist
for "Noticuba Internacional" (International
Cuban News) in the Miami-based newspaper "Diario
de las Américas" and for the Miami magazine
"El Camajuanense." He also writes for the
Union City (New Jersey) newspaper "La Razón"
and "La Semana" of Orlando (Fl.).
Dr. Blanca Rosa García, a Cuban exile
and United States citizen, a Professor Emeritus at
Wagner College of Staten Island (New York), where
she taught Spanish and Latin American literature and
directed the foreign language laboratory for 20 years.
She is also a writer and the editor of Ediciones Suagar.
She currently writes articles of the Union City (New
Jersey) newspaper "La Razón." Her
published works include a cookbook, soon to be in
it's 3rd edition, entitled Disfrute cocinando (Enjoy
Cooking), which features international recipes from
three generations as well as information on nutrition.
